BLACK DICK

THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT (An Overview)

Private Eye Jackson Johnson Johnstone made a promise to help anyone he can, after an incident in jr. high involving two kids, Jackson’s head and a slightly used toilet bowl. BLACK DICK follows Jackson's attempting to make good on that promise. Sadly, when he’s not jumping to snap judgments, he’s decidedly indecisive. And even when he’s wrong, he’s the only one that’s right. Fortunately, with a bit of desire, a whole lot of luck and with Billy, his side kick, he'll get his man, because he's Jackson Johnson Johnstone: BLACK DICK FOR HIRE.

“It’s elementary, my dear Watson, elementary.”

-Sherlock Holmes

“No one in the history of time has ever used or needed math, Billy, no one”

-Jackson Johnson Johnstone

COMEDY NOIR (The World)

The series BLACK DICK resides in the world of comedic noir. Think Will Farell as Bogart in the Maltese Falcon. Much like film noir, where the protagonists are strong, tough as nails and battle weary. Jackson, our comedy noir protagonists, TELLS himself that he’s strong, tough as nails and battle weary.  Through the voice-over device, we get a VIP pass to the inner thinking of Jackson, whether we want it or not.

The cases noir, only with a slight comedic twist. Instead of a protagonist caught in the web of the nefarious seductive wife, JACKSON would get entangled with a cougar, which just so happens to be his sidekick’s hot mom.

And the final defining noir tapestry: The City of Oakland. Usually dark and gloomy, ripe with crime, it’s a city with plenty of crime for Jackson to sink his teeth into.

“I needed a drink, I needed a lot of life insurance, I needed a vacation, I needed a home in the country. What I had was a coat, a hat and a gun.”

-Philip Marlowe

“I needed to get my rent money otherwise Nanna was gonna kick me out.”

-Jackson Johnson Johnstone
